    • Establishes Global Rules of Trades between nations

    • Framework for trade policy:

      • Non-discrimination ( all members treated equally )

      • Binding enforceable commitments

      • Transparency

    • Not part of UN System

    • Predecessor was GATT ( General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade )

    • Tries to prevent subsidies, and tariffs

  • International Monetary Fund

    • Location: Washington, D.C.

    • Same members as World Bank

    • Goal: Stabilize World Currencies

    • Can give loans to stabilize a country's currency

      • Wants the loan paid back

        • Only gives loans to "responsible countries"

        • Responsible Countries ( according to the IMF )

      • Doesn't only give money to Poor countries

        • Ex: Greece after economic Collapse

      • Doesn't like to give to companies that have a lot of debt ( U.S. 19 Trillion )

    • "Last Resort" for going to

    • Requires countries to change policies to support entrepreneurs in a country.

  • Spread of economic, cultural, and political ideas between nations

  • Driven by international trade and investment

  • Pros:

    • Newly industrialized countries

    • Fat countries:

      • Cheap products

      • Con Stuff

  • Cons:

    • Intense Competition

    • Bad for Lean and not yet industrialized or trying
